WE NEED ONE PROGRESSIVE ACTION STATE TO LEAD THE WAY. WILL VICTORIA TAKE UP MY OFFER TO ASSIST IT BOOST DOMESTIC AND OVERSEAS, LONG STAY, BIG LOCAL SPEND, VISITORS.

Friday, April 29th, 2011

I HAVE MADE MYSELF AVAILABLE TO GIVE SERVICE ON THE TOURISM VICTORIA BOARD.

I meet tourism and recreation, business management, event management, and investment facilitation, criteria Board Members need.

The UN Policy that tourism, when owned , or majority shared by regional interests, can be a vital force for sustaining those regions, is my Policy.
I argued for this over many years when I was CEO of an Affiliate of the UN’s World Tourism Organisation. In that capacity I represented a Consortium of Australia’s largest Professional Firms in Land Planning, Architecture, Economics, Tourism Planning, and Engineering.

Australia needs one dynamic and progressive State, to take action now and lead the way show the other States how to increase domestic and inbound visitors, and sustain Regional areas with long stay, big local spend, visitors. This could easily be Victoria. However it won’t happen without some changes being made from our present, 30 year, behind the times, “pogo sticking” Visitor Centres, They continue to offer their “PASSIVE RESPONSE”, give them a brochure after they arrive, approach. Instead we need to be offering an  active response, active WEB follow up, new type, 7/24 multi options, special interests, multi lingual, local hostings fully integrated with the new type, local transport, local attractions, local shopping arrangements.to become the next, most sought after, long haul, long stay, big spend on local products, special interest experiences, world destination. And Regional Australia needs a new type, as best suits them, link up, to Australia’s globally respected, Aboriginal peoples, their culture, music and arts. For an explanation how best to do this, do a Google search for the” Aboriginal and Outback Experiences Super Highway” and review again the number one solution on the WEB where I explain how to do this.

My vision and links for attracting the, GOTWS, Giant Overseas Tourist Wholesale Suppliers can be seen on www.yestogether.com. I have visited others in Berlin, at the ITB who have told me .”Give us what we want, and we will give you what you want, which can be many many 100 person groups of long stay, special interest, affluent visitors, from 500 a week to 30,000 a week. We can do this if your arrangements and 7/24, multi lingual, multi choice, options for tours and hostings on arrival are right.

We can get Victoria free global publicity as we have links to FIJET which has 2000 networked overseas Travel Journalists and Travel Program Producers.  They could provide Australia’s first co-operating State with much free publicity , but only after certain 7/24 hostings and special interest
experience options, and local , get about, transport arrangements were put in place. They are not interested in providing, same old, same old, PR. See.

There are as well six additional new concepts, that if given a Board Position, I could introduce to Tourism Victoria.
These would all be new National (and global) Tourism Development and Promotional Initiatives.

They being.
NEW TOURISM FILM FESTIVAL

1. An annual World, Tourism, Special Interests, Short Films, Competition, Festival that would have Film Makers from all over Australia , of all ages, competing to make free promotional Film and TV product that could then be subsequently used to promote Victoria on the WEB, Youtube,
mobiles and IPads.

NEW NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL

2. A new type all ages, and different type teams, national Sports Festival, permanently based in Victoria that would attract visitors continually , all year, from all over Australia and from Overseas.

NEW REASONS TO “GO RURAL VICTORIA”

3. A new type of “Regional Visitor Treasure Hunts” that would combine local touring with puzzle solving leading to a Visitor winning a Monthly (major sponsors) Prize Awards, good enough to attract a continuing flow of Visitors from all States of Australia to Victoria to participate .

NEW RURAL TOURISM DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE

4. The establishment of a new Global, Regional Areas, Tourism Development Institute somewhere in Rural Victoria. This would attract a continuing stream of Local Government Officers from all over Australia and overseas, coming to see how Tourism Victoria was transforming its numbers of long stay, big local spend visitors, into Victoria, and more than all of the other States.

NEW VISITOR NEEDS SERVICING TECHNOLOGY

5. New Technology that could be taken up first by Victoria’s accommodations establishments and that would put them far ahead of all other States of Australia, and make Victoria a magnet for attracting increased domestic and overseas visitors to Regional Victoria, and to Melbourne.

NEW TOURISM WINNERS HALL OF FAME

6. A Global Tourism Achievers and Originators Hall of Fame, that would recognise the Australian, and the “World’s Best Tourism Industry leaders and Winners” and thereby further promote Victoria as the Australian State to visit.

THE SOLUTION TO BOOST VISITOR NUMBERS INTO AUSTRALIA HAS ALWAYS BEEN THERE.

GREAT INDUSTRY INNOVATIONS TAKE MANY YEARS AND MANY IMPROVED PROTOTYPES TO DEVELOP. HENRY FORD BUILT AND TORE DOWN HIS FIRST REPLICATED CAR, ASSEMBLY LINE, 3 TIMES.

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

OVER THE PAST 40 YEARS, THAT THIS INLAND VISITOR PROJECT HAS BEEN EVOLVING,  IT HAS ENJOYED THE SUPPORT OF MANY OF AUSTRALIA’S FINEST, SUCCESSFUL, BUSINESS LEADERS. AND IT HAS ENJOYED HUGE GLOBAL INTEREST , BY INTERNATIONAL ,  NATIONAL , STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT LEADERS.  ALL HAVE BEEN INTERESTED TO SEE A DEVELOPMENT, LIKE THESE RURAL INLAND DISCOVERY VILLAGES, IN BUSINESS, AND SHARING THE MAJORITY OF THEIR PROCEEDS WITH THE SURROUNDING REGION .

AND ALL NATIONS SEEK TO ATTRACT GREATER NUMBERS OF LONG STAY, AFFLUENT , BIG SPEND VISITORS TO THEIR COUNTRY.

James Dyson, Design Engineer, and globally successful Inventor of the Cyclone Vacuum Cleaner, said an idea is just a starting point. ” My first crude prototype was the first step in a long process of developing my invention. There were 500 prototypes before my invention was complete.”

A number of the same industry professionals that were behind this project in the late 1970′s are still associated with it today. Myself, Max Lindegger, George Stone, Diana Byrne, John McNaughton. We have all invested literally thousands of hours and much cash to see this project progressed.  And we know that it is now time, with our National Innovations Bank in place, that seed funding be provided to build the fully working, replicable, viable, sustainable, pilot model, of the 1st stage of the Rural Inland Discovery Village. We estimate 10 millions will be required to do this. We have the designs and fifteen supporting experienced professionals to see it happen.

arthur Athur Parsonage OBE was Joint Managing Director and a major shareholder in the project. He was National Chairman of the KFC Franchisees. He died the day of the Rural Inland Discovery Villages major Financial Review launch. This was before the new planned financing arrangements could be put in place to build the 1st stage pilot project.  Marc Aussie-Stone , together with George Stone, John McNaughton, Brian Relf and John Czinner has continued with the project since that time.

BOTH MCDONALDS AND KFC LAUNCHED THEIR MULTI STORE BUSINESSES ACROSS AUSTRALIA AFTER HAVING FOREIGN FUNDED THEIR AUSTRALIAN START UP PILOT MODELS.

McDonalds first Fast Food store in Australia 30 years ago cost them one million dollars to get it right. And they had the advantage of bringing all their American plans with them. Today there are 17,000 fast food stores operating throughout Australia and about 800 of these are the replicated first model, McDonalds. And how do I know this. I was the KFC National Launch Marketing Manager when no on would fund the Australian, first store, replicable model prototype. Today there are 600 KFC stores built throughout Australia. I learnt how to do it and built my own 5 replicated store Franchise.

LIKE MCDONALDS AND KFC, WE PLAN A ONE STOP, HOLIDAY, ACCOMMODATIONS , TOURISM AND HOSTING EXPERIENCE.

Our Inland Discovery Village project is total supply chain solution. It motivates a visitor from where the customers originate, right through the visitor service line and for after the customers go home. It is not rocket science but it will firstly transform Australia’s visitor industry and then the global tourism industry. It will do for visitors, both domestic and overseas, what these Fast Food, one stop stores, have done for the take home, meal market. And in that way it will attract new, regular and return holiday visitor customers.

TWO BIGGEST JAPANESE COMPANIES INTERESTED

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

VISITS TO AUSTRALIA FOLLOWED BY LEADING AMERICAN BUSINESSMEN . WE WERE ALSO VISITED BY THE CEO’S OF TWO OF JAPANS LEADING TRADING HOUSES, FURAKAWA AND CITOH.  AUSTRALIAN BUSINESS LEADERS ASSEMBLED TO WELCOME THEM.  THE JAPANESE TRADING HOUSES WERE INTERESTED IN DISCUSSING AN EQUITY INVESTMENT IN OUR RURAL INLAND DISCOVERY VILLAGES. THEY BELIEVED THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN OF GREAT INTEREST TO THE AFFLUENT JAPANESE VISITOR.  AUSTRALIAN PROFESSIONAL AND BUSINESS LEADERS ASSEMBLED AT THE COMPANY’S HEADQUARTERS IN SYDNEY TO GREET THEM. UNFORTUNATELY AUSTRALIA WAS UNINTERESTED IN FOREIGN EQUITY INVESTMENT IN AUSTRALIAN INDUSTRY AT THAT TIME. OUR FEDERAL TREASURER WAS UNINTERESTED TO DISCUSS ANY ALTERNATIVES. THEY FLEW BACK TO JAPAN.

GOVERNMENT DISCOURAGES SERIOUS FINANCIER

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

THE SON OF A FOUNDER OF THE WORLD BANK, THAT OWNED A HUGE PARACHUTING SPORTS COMPANY OUT OF NEW YORK, JAQUES ISTEL, FLEW IN TO AUSTRALIA AS A THE GUEST OF OUR DEVELOPING COMPANY. HE PROPOSED AN EQUITY INVESTMENT OF 10 MILLION TO BE SPREAD THROUGH AUSTRALIAN TOURISM FIRMS. 3 MILLIONS TO FUND THE START UPS OF THE FIRST STAGE OF 3 RURAL INLAND DISCOVERY VILLAGES AND THE BALANCE TO BE SPREAD THROUGHT OTHER ESTABLISHED AND SUPPORTING FIRMS. REGRETTABLY, AT THAT TIME IN AUSTRALIA’S DEVELOPMENT HISTORY, UNLIKE TODAY,  OUR FEDERAL TREASURER WAS UNINTERESTED TO MEET WITH HIM OR NEGOTIATE AUSTRALIA’S FOREIGN INVESTMENT TRADING RULES. HE FLEW OUT.

AFTER AND BEFORE THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT LAUNCH DINNER, PLANNING ACTS WERE ALTERED TO PROGRESS THE PROJECT, AND FUNDS PROMISED TO PROVIDE SEWERAGE AND ACCESS ROADS AND SERVICES TO THE PROJECTS . MANY HONOURED LEADERS HAVE COOPERATED TO LEAD THIS INLAND DISCOVERY VILLAGE PROJECT.

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

THE PROJECT DIRECTORS HAVE INCLUDED THE EMINENT AUSTRALIANS, ARTHUR PARSONAGE OBE,  DON LUCAS OBE (SURF LIFESAVING), SIR BILL NORTHAM , SIR JACK BRABHAM, ALLAN HAYES,  CHAIRMAN OF RANKINE AND HILL, AUSTRALIA’S LARGEST GLOBAL ENGINEERING CONSULTANCY, AND JOHN MCNAUGHTON, AM, FORMER LORD MAYOR OF NEWCASTLE AND SECRETARY OF THE NSW SURVEYORS INSTITUTE. THEY HAVE SUPPORTED A NUMBER OF TRIAL LAUNCHES OF THE PROJECT AND WE HAVE LEARNT MUCH FROM EACH LAUNCH. THE FIRST BEING AT BERMAGUI.

IT WAS A SUCCESS IN LAUNCHING THE PROJECT CONCEPT, AND THIS ATTRACTED MUCH MEDIA SUPPORT. SEE AN EXAMPLE IN THE CITY TATTERSALLS ARTICLE BELOW. HOWEVER IT FAILED TO MOTIVATE AN AUSTRALIAN FINANCE COMPANY TO PROVIDE THE FIRST STAGE , SEED FUNDING, NEEDED TO BUILD A VIABLE OPERATIONAL PILOT PROJECT.

AND THIS NOTWITHSTANDING THAT PLANNING AND FINANCE LEGISLATION HAS BEEN ENACTED AND GOVERNMENT SUPPORT AT ALL LEVELS OFFERED TO SUPPORT PROGRESSING THE PROJECT.  AND THIS ALSO NOTWITHSTANDING THE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF CASH AND TIME INVESTED BY MYSELF AND MY SUPPORTING COLLEAGUES WHO HAVE THE SOLE OBJECTIVE, TO PROGRESS AUSTRALIA FOR ALL AUSTRALIANS. HOWEVER NEVERTHELESS WE WILL CONTINUE TO PROGRESS THE PROJECT !
